About Me

I was born in Akron, OH in 1933. My parents moved to Randolph two years later where we lived with my grandparents, Clem and Trina Lang. When I was eight years old my parents bought the house next door and we lived there along with my sister Ruth and brother Mark. I attended St. Joseph’s Grade School, graduated from Randolph High School in 1951 and then Kent State University. The summers and weekends I worked at Keller Mines in Deerfield and Fenn Dairy in Kent.

I was drafted into the US Army in 1955 and was stationed in Kentucky and Korea. I married Elaine Horning in 1957. In 1960 we moved to Syracuse, NY with 2 children, Christopher and Dennis, where I obtained a graduate degree in mathematics from Syracuse University. We then moved back to Randolph and 3 more children arrived: Neil, David, and Pamela. There we operated a honey farm and I taught math and physics in local high schools. Later I supervised student teachers at Kent State University.

I am now retired and living in Brady Lake where I bike, canoe, play music, work on electronic projects, write computer programs, stare at the lake, and entertain profound thoughts.
